Fresh Perspective - fine art print

from $78.00

Captured by helicopter while compiling a visual study of extreme drought conditions in Spring 2015 is a glimpse of Lake Tahoe that most will never see first-hand. Fresh Perspective is a bittersweet aerial view of the Upper Truckee River flowing into South Lake Tahoe as it delivers a large sediment plume containing phosphorus and nitrogen, which are key causes of algae growth and contribute to the loss of Tahoe's famous blue clarity. Development of the Tahoe Keys community forever altered the Truckee Marsh, disturbing the natural filtration process that removes sediment and pollution from the river water prior to reaching the lake. Conservation efforts have helped to recover a more natural flow to the river and reduce sediment but what was altered cannot ever be fully recovered.
